    PrudentialisseekinganexperiencedandstrategicunderwritingleadertojoinourGroupInsuranceorganizationasaDirector,GroupUnderwriting.Inthisrole,youwillleadaregionalteamresponsibleforunderwritingandriskmanagementacrossourPremierandNationalAccountssegments.

    The Director will oversee a portfolio of complex group insurance business while driving profitable growth, retention, and risk management outcomes. This leader willpartnercloselywithDistribution,Actuarial,Claims,Product,andotherbusinessstakeholderstodevelopmarketstrategies,optimizeunderwritingperformance,andensureconsistentexecutionacrossadiverseportfolioofclients.

    Successinthisrolerequiresacombinationofstrongtechnicalunderwritingexpertise,strategicbusinessleadership,talentdevelopmentcapabilities,andtheabilitytoinfluencedecisionsacrossadynamicandevolvingmarketplace.

    What you'll do:

    Leadership&TalentDevelopment

    • Lead,coach,anddevelopahigh-performingteamofunderwritingprofessionals.

    • Fosteracultureofaccountability,collaboration,innovation,andcontinuouslearning.

    • Drivetalentmanagementstrategies,includingrecruitment,successionplanning,employeedevelopment,andperformancemanagement.

    • Serveasavisibleleaderandchangechampion,helpingteamsnavigateevolvingbusinessprioritiesandorganizationalinitiatives.

    PortfolioManagement&BusinessPerformance

    • Own underwriting results for an assigned portfolio, including profitability, revenue growth, retention, and risk management outcomes.

    • Monitorportfoliotrends,emergingrisks,andfinancialperformancetoidentifyopportunitiesanddriveinformedbusinessdecisions.

    • Ensureconsistentunderwritingpracticesandsoundriskselectionacrosstheteam'sbookofbusiness.

    • Leveragemarketintelligence,experiencedata,andperformancemetricstooptimizeportfolioresults.

    StrategicLeadership

    • Contribute to segment, region and enterprise-wide business planning initiatives.

    • Helpshapeunderwritingandpricingstrategiesthatsupportlong-termgrowthobjectives.

    • Influencebusinessdecisionsthroughdata-drivenrecommendationsandindustryexpertise.

    • Identifyopportunitiestoimproveoperationalefficiency,underwritingeffectiveness,andcustomeroutcomes.

    Client&PartnerEngagement

    • Buildstrongrelationshipswithinternalstakeholders,brokers,consultants,andkeycustomers.

    • PartnercloselywithDistribution,Actuarial,Claims,Product,Finance,andotherfunctionalteamstodelivereffectiveunderwritingsolutions.

    • Participateinhigh-profilecaseconsultations,negotiations,andclientdiscussionsasneeded.

    • RepresentUnderwritinginstrategicbusinessdiscussionsandsupportmarket-facinginitiatives.

    Governance&OperationalExcellence

    • Ensureadherencetounderwritingguidelines,riskmanagementstandards,andregulatoryrequirements.

    • Leadqualityreviewactivitiesandoperationaloversighteffortstomaintainconsistencyandexcellenceacrosstheteam.

    • Drivecontinuousprocessimprovementinitiativesthatenhanceefficiency,transparency,andcustomerexperience.

    • Supportthedevelopment,implementation,andongoingrefinementofunderwritingpoliciesandprocedures.

    What you'll need:

    • 10+yearsofGroupInsuranceunderwritingexperiencewithexpertiseinLifeandDisabilityproducts.

    • Provenleadershipexperiencemanaginganddevelopingunderwritingprofessionals.

    • Demonstratedsuccessmanagingcomplexportfolioswhiledeliveringstrongprofitability,growth,andretentionresults.

    • Strongunderstandingofunderwritingprinciples,pricingmethodologies,andriskmanagementpractices.

    • Excellentanalytical,financial,andproblem-solvingcapabilities.

    • Exceptionalcommunication,presentation,negotiation,andrelationshipmanagementskills.

    • Abilitytoinfluenceandcollaborateeffectivelyacrossmultiplestakeholdergroupsandlevelsofleadership.

    What we offer you:


    Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $136,200.00 to $204,400.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
    • Market competitive base salaries, with a yearly bonus potential at every level.
