Role summary:

Walmart''s Federal Government Affairs team is seeking a strategic, experienced, and mission-driven Director of Federal Government Affairs to lead our advocacy and engagement on key healthcare issues in Washington, D.C. This role will serve as the company's lead lobbyist on federal healthcare policy, representing Walmart before Congress, the Administration, and key stakeholders. The Director will also act as a trusted advisor to internal teams, helping shape Walmart's healthcare strategy through policy insight and engagement.

Walmart''s Federal Government Affairs team leads Walmart's engagement on federal policy issues, advocating before Congress, the Administration, and key stakeholders. This team shapes strategic engagement and policy priorities that advance and protect business goals. The team coordinates across functions to counsel the business on risk, influence public policy, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and provide actionable insights to leadership. The team fosters a culture of continuous learning, teamwork, ethical decision-making, and strategic foresight to address emerging policy challenges. It supports the company's mission by leading effective policy advocacy that advances Walmart's strategy.

What you''ll do:

  • Serve as Walmart's lead advocate on federal healthcare policy before Congress, the Administration, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for legislative and regulatory issues impacting Walmart's Health & Wellness & Benefits teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Walmart''s Health & Wellness and Benefits teams to align policy strategy with business priorities.
  • Monitor, analyze, and provide guidance on federal legislation and regulations related to, but not limited to, employer-sponsored insurance plans, reimbursement systems, Medicare, Medicaid, and pharmacy operations.
  • Represent Walmart in external forums, including industry coalitions, trade associations, and public policy events.

What you''ll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading healthcare policy, with direct experience on Capitol Hill or in a federal healthcare agency.
  • Strong understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory process.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, lead cross-functional teams, influence across stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated expertise in coalition building, negotiation, and conflict resolution to influence policy outcomes.
  • Strategic thinker with sound judgment and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues into actionable insights.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
