A regional hospital system comprising two acute care hospitals and three freestanding emergency departments in the Charleston, SC area is seeking a Director of Freestanding Emergency Department. This is a full-time, day-shift leadership role overseeing one of the system's freestanding emergency department locations.

The role. The Director of Freestanding Emergency Services is responsible for the overall operational excellence of the department, including service delivery, growth, personnel management, and resource allocation to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care. This leader provides direct oversight of ancillary departments including Imaging, Lab, Admitting, Security, Environmental Services, and Support Services. The Director enforces standards of emergency care, develops and monitors compliance processes, and oversees a performance improvement program that continuously evaluates critical aspects of care delivery. A strong coaching orientation is central to this role — the Director provides direct feedback and development planning to immediate subordinates, participates in employee and patient rounding, and actively identifies and mentors emerging leaders. The Director also develops, implements, and evaluates an ongoing emergency services program while monitoring compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policy requirements across patient services, environmental safety, and personnel safety.

What we're looking for.

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in emergency services required
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role required
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Schedule. Full time, days, no weekends.

Compensation. $109,449 - $142,292 per year plus Incentive Bonus of Up To 17.5%; Relocation: Case by Case Basis
