Director, Finance & Operations | Nonprofit Organization | Boston

A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Director, Finance & Operations to oversee the organization’s financial health, operational infrastructure, HR administration, and organizational systems. This is a senior-level role working closely with the Executive Director, leadership team, Finance Committee, Board, staff, auditors, and external partners.
Compensation: $90,000-98,000

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, cash flow forecasting, financial planning, reporting, and analysis
• Oversee accounting, monthly close, audits, internal controls, and nonprofit compliance
• Prepare financial reports and presentations for the Finance Committee and Board
• Manage HR administration, including payroll, benefits, onboarding, and personnel records
• Oversee vendors, contracts, insurance, records, and operational workflows

• Support grant budgets, restricted funding, event reconciliations, and cross-functional planning

• Partner with the Executive Director on organizational strategy and initiatives

Qualifications

• Strong experience in nonprofit accounting, finance, budgeting, audit, and reporting
• Experience overseeing operations, HR administration, and organizational systems
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment
• Passion for working within a mission-driven organization
