JOB SUMMARY:
Direct the day-to-day operations of the dental program while supervising department staff and performing general dentistry duties.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Focus
- Provide comprehensive general dentistry
- Provide accurate diagnosis and treatment of all problems
- Refer patients needing additional care to other oral health specialists
- Works collaboratively with the CBHS PI Coordinator to regularly monitor patient satisfaction and perform one PDSA cycle each year
- Keeps support staff on task at times when no patients are scheduled for appointments
Performance Management
- Supervise support staff
- Maintain records on all patients that have been assessed and treated
- Completes dental staff annual reviews
Compliance, Policies and Procedures
- Develop and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures for the clinical operations of the department
- Develops and maintains administrative policies and procedures that are specific to the dental program
- Establishes and maintains a teaching affiliation with the University of Maryland Dental School.
- Works collaboratively with the CBHS PI Coordinator to regularly monitor patient satisfaction and perform one PDSA cycle each year.
- Reports monthly utilization statistics to supervisor on a timely basis.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Computer literacy, knowledge of dental practice management systems
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Required: Graduate of an accredited dental school
Required: Minimum of 5 years of practice experience post dental school. 2 years prior experience in supervisory role
