Description

Company Description Overview As a Director of our Intelligent Interfaces team, you will create innovative analytics systems that reveal, explore and explain complex patterns and phenomena from Epsilon's peta-scale and massively dimensional digital marketing ecosystem. You will reduce this complexity into sophisticated, intuitive interfaces that demonstrate the business value of Epsilon's platform directly to our collaborators and global customers, which include some of the world's largest brands. Our challenges span hundreds of millions of highly detailed individual profiles across hundreds of millions of websites and apps, tied together by powerful real-time analytics that make near-instantaneous decisions on messaging to those profiles trillions of times a day. This provides an incredibly rich environment of business questions and answers that are hidden within petabytes of data. This position reports to the VP of the Decision Sciences Visual Analytics (DSVA) team. You will be leading an R&D team focused on using the latest in artificial intelligence, combined with visual analytics, to provide deep insights on complex data sets for user communities ranging from clients to analysts. Our focus is on understanding complex marketing activities, customer profiles, personas, marketing touch points, path to purchase, and more within the context of the Epsilon digital marketing platform. Thousands of attributes over time must all be condensed into meaningful, actionable insights. You will also work closely with our systems team that provides the backbone of large-scale compute to bring petabytes of data into our platform, where we can query and manipulate it interactively. Our tech stack is evolving to keep pace with the times; however, you can expect to be working with TypeScript, React, Node.js, Databricks, LLMs, LangChain, and more. Candidates should have extensive experience leading a team in applied R&D settings. You need to have a good eye for detail in interface work, whether visualizations and charts or AI workflows. A key need for this position is to tame complexity and nurture simplicity, in order to make our insights accessible to clients. This is not a pure people manager role. Ideal candidates will be hands-on with technology-designing sketches, creating prototypes, and iterating on outputs. Candidates must have a desire to move beyond applied research alone to building production systems in the real world. Responsibilities Lead a team of 5-7 applied scientists performing R&D on advanced visual and intelligent interfaces for understanding complex data. Understand collaborator requirements and design implementations for the user experience of DiME (Digital Marketing Explorer), Epsilon's marketing analytics tool for both internal and client use. Develop agentic AI capabilities that allow DiME to be embedded in Epsilon and Publicis platforms. Develop new analytical storytelling and visualization-oriented interfaces for conveying complex marketing insights. Work as an SME advisor to client teams, clients, and agencies to understand DiME capabilities and how they can be used to drive business outcomes. Qualifications 6+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years leading a team. Ph.D. in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or equivalent education/professional experience is required or an M.S. with 10+ years of experience. Extensive experience with building advanced analytics systems with visual and AI interfaces. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly. Strong experience in building modern web applications. Strong passion for understanding key business problems, bringing together a team to understand data and instrumentation needs, and mining data to unearth deep insights into customer experiences. Strong experience in at least one database technology (e.g., Hive, DuckDB). Understanding and experience working with cloud infrastructure services like Databricks. Experience working with code repositories and continuous integration (e.g., Git, Jenkins). Click here to view how Epsilon transforms marketing with 1 View, 1 Vision, 1 Voice.
