    Description

    The Director of Compliance & Privacy is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive, organization-wide compliance and privacy program. This role serves as the Corporation’s primary resource for compliance-related matters and ensures the organization meets all applicable federal and state healthcare laws and regulations while promoting a culture of ethics, accountability, and transparency. This position is tasked with identifying and mitigating regulatory risks, overseeing compliance education and reporting systems, and integrating compliance practices into daily operations.

     

    Qualifications:

    •  Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, Legal Studies, or related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
    • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), or similar credential preferred.
    • Five (5) years of experience in healthcare compliance, audit, risk management, legal, quality, with at least 2 years of relevant Director-level experience, substitutable by relevant professional certifications and/or experience.

     

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Develop, implement, and maintain Grande Ronde Hospital’s Compliance and Privacy Program, including policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct, ensuring alignment with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
    • Lead regular compliance risk assessments, identify regulatory risks across all departments and service lines, prioritize mitigation strategies, and monitor the effectiveness of the Compliance Program.
    • Communicate critical compliance concerns to the CEO and provide regular reports to the CEO and Board of Trustees, outlining program effectiveness, key risk areas, corrective actions, and relevant regulatory updates.
    • Oversee and direct investigations into compliance and privacy concerns, manage responses to external audits or inquiries, and lead the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
    • Provide strategic oversight of organization-wide education on compliance, privacy, and regulatory requirements; collaborate with the Education Department to ensure development and effective dissemination of mandatory training to all employees, affiliates, and contractors in alignment with legal and organizational standards.
    • Maintain oversight of Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), ensuring their implementation, annual review, and compliance with legal and organizational requirements; review contracts as requested to assess alignment with applicable regulations and business objectives.

    • Continuously monitor and interpret evolving laws, regulations, technology, and industry trends; advise leadership and staff, accordingly, ensuring integration of compliance standards into organizational policies, procedures, and operational workflows.

     

    Skills and Abilities:

    •  Communicate effectively in writing, speaking, and presenting education to a varied audience.
    • Collaborate with single or multiple disciplinary teams promoting quality healthcare in compliance with federal, state, county, and hospital laws, regulations. and policies.
    • Courage and ethics in daily operations and execution of investigation and sensitive information.
    • Mentor and coach new managers and employees in corporations’ compliance programs and plans.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities along with excellent presentation and education skills.

     

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    • Occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
    • Able to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day), and frequently stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch throughout the workday.
    • Requires frequent use of a computer and standard office equipment, including extensive use of hands and fingers for typing, document handling, and data entry.
    • Must be able to perform the primary duties and responsibilities of the job with reasonable accommodation.

     

    Compensation:  

    $55.82-$76.96
