Director, Commercial Finance

Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)

Position Summary

Grand Circle is seeking a commercially-minded finance leader to help drive profitable growth across our Front-End organization. This is not a traditional finance role focused solely on reporting results-it's an opportunity to influence business strategy, shape commercial decisions, and partner directly with leaders across Marketing, Customer Acquisition, Product, Pricing, and Finance.

As Director, Commercial Finance, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to the business, owning financial planning, forecasting, pricing strategy, and commercial performance. You'll help leadership understand where opportunities exist, identify risks before they become problems, and translate financial insights into actions that improve business results.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving business problems, influencing strategy, and partnering cross-functionally to drive measurable outcomes. You'll have regular exposure to executive leadership, including the CFO, COO, and CEO, while helping shape the future growth of one of the world's leading travel companies.

Responsibilities

Commercial Finance Leadership

  • Serve as the primary finance partner supporting the commercial organization and key business leaders.
  • Own annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, long-range planning, and scenario modeling.
  • Monitor business performance and proactively identify risks and opportunities affecting revenue, profitability, and growth.
  • Deliver clear financial recommendations that influence strategic business decisions.
  • Build executive-level reporting and presentations for senior leadership.

Business Partnership & Commercial Strategy

  • Partner closely with Marketing, Customer Acquisition, Product, Revenue Management, FP&A, and Brand teams to improve commercial performance.
  • Help leaders understand the financial impact of key initiatives, investments, and business decisions.
  • Identify profit gaps and partner with stakeholders to develop action plans that improve business performance.
  • Challenge assumptions, ask thoughtful questions, and bring a commercial perspective to cross-functional discussions.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives through financial analysis and decision support.

Pricing & Revenue Optimization

  • Play an active role in pricing strategy by providing financial analysis and recommendations.
  • Monitor competitor pricing, market trends, and commercial performance to identify opportunities.
  • Evaluate product profitability and recommend pricing or product mix adjustments that improve margins.
  • Support revenue optimization initiatives through financial modeling and competitive analysis.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead forecasting and budgeting activities with a focus on actionable business insights.
  • Develop financial models that support strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Analyze performance drivers and communicate findings to business leaders.
  • Continuously improve forecasting accuracy and planning processes.

Leadership

  • Lead and develop one Senior Financial Analyst.
  • Foster a collaborative, commercially focused team environment built on curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Help establish scalable financial processes and analytical tools that support future growth.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a commercial operator with a strong finance toolkit-someone who enjoys partnering with the business, influencing decisions, and driving measurable business outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Commercial Finance, FP&A, Strategic Finance, Business Finance, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with business leaders to influence commercial or operational decisions.
  • Strong forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, and scenario planning experience.
  • Experience supporting P&L ownership and driving financial performance.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect financial analysis to strategic decision-making.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations and communicating with senior leadership.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting commercial organizations within travel, hospitality, airlines, retail, consumer products, or technology.
  • Experience with pricing strategy, revenue optimization, or competitive analysis.
  • MBA or other advanced business degree.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
