Director, Capital Advisory Job Title: Director, Capital Advisory (Sales) Job Type: Full-Time, In Office (Cottonwood Heights, UT) Compensation: Base salary $55,000–$75,000 + uncapped commission on funded deals Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8a–5p typical. Deals don’t always keep office hours. The Opportunity Avtech Capital is a private capital direct lender with more than 20 years in equipment finance. We fund the deals traditional banks pass on: data center and GPU infrastructure, aviation, healthcare, energy, manufacturing, soft costs and FF&E, with no blanket liens or covenants. Our transactions range from a few hundred thousand dollars to tens of millions. We are hiring a Director, Capital Advisory to own deals from first call to funding. You find the company, figure out what they actually need, structure the financing, work it through credit, and get it closed. You are not passing leads to someone else. Commission is uncapped, and we mean that literally. Because our deal sizes are large, a single funded transaction can change your year. What you earn is tied directly to what you fund. There is no ceiling, no cap on territory, and no one taking your best accounts once they get big. Read This Before You Apply We would rather tell you now than have you find out in month four. This job is hard, and the upside exists because it is hard. - Sales cycles are long. Most deals take [3–6] months from first conversation to funding. Larger or more complex transactions can take longer.
- The first [6–9] months are mostly pipeline building. Expect to live on your base while you build. The people who earn big here are the ones who push through the ramp.
- Not every deal closes, and some reasons are outside your control. Credit can decline a deal. A customer delays its capex, a board pulls a project, rates move, or a bank matches the terms. You can do everything right and still lose one.
- You will hear “no” a lot. Most outreach gets no reply. You need to keep calling the next CFO anyway.
- You source your own deals. You get real support: CRM and data tools, marketing, underwriting, and leadership on calls. Nobody hands you a book of business.
If you want a predictable paycheck in exchange for a set amount of activity, this is not the right role. If you want your income tied to your own work ethic and results, keep reading. What You’ll Do Find the deals - Prospect CFOs, treasurers, controllers, and owners at middle-market and large companies through calls, email, LinkedIn, conferences, and referrals.
- Build relationships with equipment vendors, brokers, and banks that can send repeat deal flow.
- Use our data and CRM tools (Salesforce, ZoomInfo, Apollo) to target accounts and manage a disciplined pipeline.
Structure and sell - Understand the customer’s capital plan and figure out where financing fits: new equipment, expansions, soft costs, tenant improvements, sale-leasebacks, or refinancing existing assets.
- Show customers why financing beats paying cash: preserved liquidity, flexible structures, and capital that complements their bank instead of competing with it.
- Build proposals and negotiate term, structure, and pricing that work for the customer and for Avtech.
Get it funded - Collect the financial package and work alongside underwriting to present the deal to credit.
- Anticipate credit concerns early and bring solutions such as guarantors, deposits, additional collateral, or adjusted structure.
- Drive documentation and closing with legal and operations so the deal funds on schedule.
Grow the account - Stay close to funded customers to win add-on, refinance, and repeat business. Your best future deals usually come from your current customers.
What Success Looks Like - First 90 days: Learn our products, credit criteria, and structures. Build a target list and start booking meetings.
- 6 months: A real, qualified pipeline with proposals out and first deals in front of credit.
- 12 months: Consistently funding deals, with a pipeline deep enough that one lost deal doesn’t sink your quarter.
Who Wins Here - [5+] years of B2B sales with real outbound prospecting. Experience in equipment finance, commercial lending, or banking is a strong plus.
- Comfortable talking with CFOs and reading a balance sheet and income statement, or willing to learn quickly.
- Self-directed and competitive. You build your own day and do not need someone checking your call count.
- Resilient. You can lose a deal you worked for four months and be on the phone the next morning.
- Efficient in CRMs and sales software. You manage dozens of open opportunities with long timelines and keep your pipeline, notes, and next steps current without being asked.
- Great at following up and maintaining relationships. You stay in touch long after the first meeting and don’t let deals or contacts go cold.
- Not afraid to pick up the phone. You make cold calls every day.
What You Get - Uncapped commission on every deal you fund.
- Large, complex deals across industries such as data centers, aviation, healthcare, and energy. That kind of experience builds a career.
- Direct access to leadership and credit decision-makers, with no layers between you and an answer.
- Hands-on training in deal structuring, credit, and equipment finance.
- [Benefits: health, dental, 401(k), PTO, etc.]
