    Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Participates in the development, coordination and administrative support of strategic and operational plans related to oncology services at the entity level.
    • Oversees all programmatic components, ensuring adherence to accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements.
    • Prepares annual capital and operating budgets. Monitors expenditures and works with managers to ensure efficiencies within the departments of the cancer center.
    • Maintains close collaboration with all departments and clinical areas to ensure streamlined operations of patient care activities and quality of care.
    • Oversees oncology support services; develops and implements professional and public education programs; and collaborates with community agencies as appropriate to promote cancer screening and outreach.
    • Works collaboratively with patients, employees, physicians, and organization leadership to resolve problems and issues. Fosters positive working relationships.
    • Manages, facilitates and develops processes that focus on employee and patient satisfaction.
    • Monitors program activities and physician participation, recording and reporting statistical data, including financial data to determine levels of participation and identify areas for improvement.
    • Ensures the efficient, economic and quality performance of the assigned service line and/or departments/areas of responsibility to support or provide quality health care services.
    • Assists in and collaborates with marketing to develop and implement marketing plans.
    • Ensure compliance with contracts including equipment, service, and maintenance

    • Serves as oncology expert on department and hospital committees and projects.

    Common Expectations:

    • Develops, establishes and implements goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for department/service line/entity operations which guide and support the provision of the department/service line/entity's services.
    • Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions.
    • Continuously assesses and identifies areas for possible performance improvement within the department/service line/entity. Maintains appropriate quality control/assessment programs.
    • Reviews and recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Ensures required licensures and certifications are current.
    • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.
    • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
