    Role Overview

We are seeking a high-leverage, senior individual contributor operating at director level with enterprise scope and executive visibility to join this team as our Director, AS AI Integration Standards.

In this role, you will define and lead the trust, governance, and standards framework for advisor-facing AI across Advisor Services-ensuring that every AI capability Schwab delivers meets the fiduciary, regulatory, and trust expectations that define our brand. You will shape how AI becomes a strategic differentiator for Schwab, translating enterprise risk and regulatory frameworks into actionable, advisor-specific standards that enable innovation at scale.

This role will operate at the center of a complex, federated operating model, partnering across product, technology, partner ecosystem, data, legal, risk, and compliance organizations to establish clear standards, evaluation practices, and governance mechanisms. You will influence and support decision-making across the AS AI portfolio, ensuring that AI investments and capabilities are aligned to Schwab's trust posture and executed with appropriate controls.

You will define and continuously evolve the Advisor Services AI standards framework-including internal/external due diligence, communication standards, disclosure norms, and evaluation practices-and ensure these translate into measurable, scalable, and credible outcomes. This role will also inform Schwab's perspective externally, contributing to industry dialogue and helping shape the emerging standards for AI in wealth advisory.

    What You'll Do

    • Define and lead AI integration strategy and framework: Establish the standards, principles, and governance approach for advisor-facing AI across Advisor Services, translating enterprise risk, legal, and compliance frameworks into actionable, business-ready guidance
    • Drive trust-centered governance across AI capabilities: Partner with product, data, and platform teams to ensure AI capabilities are designed, evaluated, and deployed in alignment with fiduciary expectations, regulatory requirements, and Schwab's trust standards
    • Own advisor-facing AI standards and practices: Define and continuously refine standards for model risk, explainability, advisor-client communication, disclosure, and evaluation practices specific to advisor use cases
    • Shape decision-making through a trust and risk lens: Influence prioritization and build/buy/partner decisions across the AS AI portfolio by identifying risk, governance, and trust implications and framing clear tradeoffs for leadership
    • Establish evaluation and monitoring practices: Define metrics, evaluation criteria, and monitoring approaches that ensure AI capabilities deliver expected outcomes while maintaining appropriate controls, transparency, and performance thresholds
    • Partner across enterprise governance and control functions: Operate as the business lead across Risk, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Information Security, ensuring alignment while representing advisor-specific needs not fully addressed at the enterprise level
    • Drive regulatory awareness and engagement: Monitor evolving regulatory expectations related to AI in financial services and proactively influence Schwab's posture
    • Support external positioning and thought leadership: Contribute to defining Schwab's point of view on AI for advisors and expectations for AI in wealth management
    • Enable scale through clear standards and governance: Design frameworks that allow AI innovation to scale efficiently by creating clarity, consistency, and confidence across internal teams and external partners
    • Communicate with clarity and authority: Develop executive-level materials that articulate governance approaches, risk considerations, and strategic recommendations in clear, actionable terms
    • Lean into adaptability: Navigate ambiguity and evolving regulatory and technological landscapes, ensuring governance approaches remain relevant, pragmatic, and forward-looking

    What you have

    • Minimum 10+ years of experience, ideally including digital product implementation and risk management
    • Strong understanding of financial services, wealth management, and fiduciary considerations in advisor-client relationships
    • Background supporting B2B products, platforms, ecosystems, or client-facing technology solutions is strongly preferred
    • Proven ability to define and implement governance frameworks in complex, matrixed organizations
    • Experience working across risk, legal, compliance, data, and technology functions to drive alignment and execution
    • Deep intellectual curiosity about AI technologies, model risk, and emerging regulatory frameworks
    • Strong strategic thinking and judgment, with the ability to balance risk management and innovation
    • Exceptional executive communication skills, including the ability to translate complex risk and governance topics into clear, compelling narratives
    • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment without direct authority
    • Highly adaptable and capable of operating effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
