The Director is responsible for all aspects of the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program(s), including recruitment, coordination and scheduling, and job placement assistance, in accordance with strict state regulatory standards and input from local customer agencies.
Duties
Coordinates and supervises all aspects of Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program.
Supervises BLET qualified assistant/continuing education coordinator, and the BLET Administrative Assistant.
Coordinates Detention Officer Certification Courses, Telecommunicator Courses, per state standards.
Coordinates regional NC testing as needed.
Maintains knowledge of and compliance with the State Board of Community Colleges approved standards for the curriculum and continuing education programs.
Maintains knowledge of and compliance with standards of the N.C. Law Enforcement Training and Standards Commission, Sheriffs' Education and Standards, and any other mandatory rules or regulations related to the BLET program.
Prepares and submits all documents required or requested by state regulatory agencies related to the program.
Maintains strict compliance with CJ Standards record keeping and other state, federal, and college standards.
Maintains knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices and communicates this information to full-time and adjunct faculty. Ensures that policies are supported and carried out. 10. Ensures that all college reports and requested information are submitted promptly and accurately.
Develops and submits to division designee proposed departmental class schedules and faculty assignments.
Assists in the planning, budgeting, and use of departmental funds.
Develops, coordinates, schedules instructional staff, space, and equipment.
Assures equipment is properly maintained and available for use before it is needed.
Participates in the hiring process, including the development of job announcements, recruitment of qualified applicants, reviewing of credentials, screening applicant files, interviewing, and recommendation to the President.
Plans at least one advisory committee meeting per year with representatives of all local law enforcement agencies.
Assumes instructional responsibility as outlined in the position's performance enhancement plan. Schedules office hours to meet the needs of students.
Serves on campus and/or off campus committees.
Coordinates department relations with the community and employers.
Establishes and/or maintains robust partnerships with "customer" law enforcement agencies. 21. Coordinates or assists agencies with recruiting candidates and assists candidates with enrollment.
Assists students via individual counseling and referral to available resources.
Attends the annual commencement ceremony.
Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Affairs, or Public Administration.
Ten years of full-time or equivalent experience in law enforcement in North Carolina.
Two years of full-time or equivalent teaching/training experience in law enforcement training.
Three years of full-time or equivalent law enforcement supervisory experience in North Carolina.
NC Driver's License
Currently or eligible to be BLET and GI School Director by NC CJ Standards Commission.
Current or eligible DOCC and Telecommunicator School Director certification by NC Sheriffs' Standards Division.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Affairs, or Public Administration.
CJ Standards specialty instructor certifications, or obtain within 12 months of hire date if needed.
Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Your total compensation goes beyond this maximum salary. Your A-B Tech benefits represent nearly 30% of your total compensation.
