EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors Degree

Four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

CERTIFICATION:

Valid Texas Teaching Certificate by the State Board for Educator Certification

High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.

PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing leadership for the entire 7-12 grade athletic program, managing budgets, facility maintenance, and compliance with UIL regulations. Responsibilities include hiring and supervising coaches, ensuring student-athlete safety and academic compliance.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists in the planning, organization, and administration of district athletic programs at the middle and high school levels.

  2. Support the implementation of district athletic goals, procedures, and operational practices.

  3. Ensure compliance with UIL rules, state regulations, and district policies.

  4. Serve as liaison with UIL, other school districts, and athletic organizations as assigned.

  5. Support the supervision and evaluation of athletic coordinators, coaches, and other assigned athletic staff.

  6. Assist campus principals with supervision, support, and evaluation of coaches.

  7. Participate in the recruitment, screening, and interviewing of coaching and athletic personnel.

  8. Provide leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities for coaches and athletic staff.

  9. Assist with the scheduling, coordination, and administration of athletic contests, tournaments, and playoff events.

  10. Administer and supervise athletic contests, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  11. Support oversight of athletic facilities in coordination with facilities and maintenance departments.

  12. Assist in resolving concerns involving students, staff, parents, and community members.

  13. Assist with the development and administration of the district athletic budget.

  14. Assist with purchasing, bids, inventory, and distribution of athletic equipment and supplies.

  15. Monitor expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance with district procedures.

  16. Support equitable access and opportunities for participation across all sports and campuses.

  17. Maintain effective communication with campus administrators, coaches, staff, parents, and community stakeholders.

  18. Represent the district at athletic meetings, community events, and professional organizations.

  19. Communicate expectations and standards for conduct, eligibility, and participation.

  20. Attend athletic contests and events as required, including evenings and weekends.

  21. Maintain confidentiality of information.

  22. Report to work on time every day.

  23. Perform all other duties and additional responsibilities as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of UIL rules, regulations, and athletic administration practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Proficiency with athletic scheduling and management software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
