Director, Antitrust Policy The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), the world’s leading think tank for science and technology policy, is seeking a Director to lead and expand its work on antitrust and competition policy. The Director will play a central role in shaping ITIF’s research, outreach, and impact on competition policy in the United States and internationally. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional researcher and writer with deep knowledge of antitrust law and economics and a strong interest in the relationship between competition, innovation, and economic growth. The Director will lead ITIF’s research agenda on major antitrust issues, manage research staff and projects, engage policymakers and other stakeholders, and represent ITIF in public policy debates. ITIF’s approach to competition policy emphasizes the importance of innovation and economic dynamism. We are interested in how competition policy can protect consumers and competitive markets while preserving incentives for investment, entrepreneurship, technological progress, and long-term economic growth. The position will be based in Washington, DC, and will report directly to ITIF’s president. The salary for this position is $150,000 – $190,000, depending on experience. ITIF also provides a health and retirement benefits package, generous paid vacation, an annual performance-based bonus, and a public transportation benefit. Essential Responsibilities - Lead the development and execution of ITIF’s antitrust and competition policy research agenda, including major reports, policy briefs, op-eds, blog posts, and public comments.
- Produce rigorous, timely, and persuasive analysis on competition policy, with particular attention to the relationship between antitrust, innovation, technology, and economic growth.
- Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and enforcement developments in the United States and internationally.
- Engage directly with policymakers, government officials, industry representatives, academics, and other stakeholders on competition policy issues.
- Organize and participate in briefings, roundtables, conferences, and other public events.
- Manage research projects from conception to publication, including supervising and mentoring staff.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts by developing proposals, cultivating donor relationships, and communicating the impact of ITIF’s work.
- Represent ITIF in media interviews, public debates, coalition engagements, and other public forums.
- Help shape ITIF’s broader strategy and public voice on antitrust and competition policy.
Qualifications - Graduate degree in economics, law, public policy, political science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in antitrust, competition policy, economics, government, think tanks, industry, or academia.
- Demonstrated expertise in antitrust law and economics, including a strong understanding of current policy debates and enforcement issues.
- Strong understanding of industrial organization and microeconomics and their application to competition policy.
- Proven record of producing high-quality written work for policymaker audiences, including reports, op-eds, academic articles, legal analysis, or other policy publications.
- Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience managing research projects and staff is strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong professional network in Washington or other relevant policy communities.
- Keen interest in technological innovation and its implications for competition and economic growth.
