Job Summary

The Alumni Relations Director provides leadership for alumni relations programs and alumni annual giving functions that complement and advance the mission of the institution. This position is responsible for overall administration of the Alumni Relations office, including strategic planning, fiscal management, staffing, program development and cultivation of philanthropic support; serves as the Executive Director of the Alumni Association Board; assists the associations board of directors in strengthening the universitys ties with its alumni; and is a key team member in the university advancement effort.

Responsibilities

Alumni Engagement Duties (70%) -

Develops and implements comprehensive alumni programming; plans and organizes alumni events, which include special events, reunions, regional alumni events, student alumni relations, and career networking efforts.

Manages use and maintenance of alumni records and other files.

Responsible for cadence of alumni communications, including electronic newsletters, appeals, announcements, etc.

Facilitates Alumni Association board committees, meetings, attendance, minutes, records, nominations, etc.

Alumni Fundraising Duties (15%) -

Partners with Annual Giving leadership for the implementation and design of the alumni annual fund and.

Collaborates with the Annual Giving leadership for the creation and mailing of alumni engagement announcements

Coordinates with Major Gifts team for an alumni association board member portfolio and other alumni as indicated

Develops alumni programming with university schools and departments to enhance alumni support of school/department goals.

Proactively looks for alumni programming funding opportunities, such as sponsorships and grants.

Variety of Related Duties (15%) -

Manages the Middle Georgia State University Foundation website - Alumni section.

Develops positive internal and external community relations within the Middle Georgia region and the universities 5 campuses.

Serves in leadership position within University Advancement, supporting overall department initiatives and assists with integrating alumni participation throughout.

Performs related duties as assigned by Vice President of University Advancement

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelors Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Other Required Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising principles and volunteer management with the ability to manage and train volunteers.

Required Experience

3 years experience in alumni relations/engagement, fundraising, volunteer management or a related field such as enrollment.
