About the Role:Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment (HAVE) is looking for compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to join our team in LaPlata, MD! With multiple shifts available, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities while building a rewarding career in human services.
Responsibilities:- Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility
- Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
- Facilitate community integration activities and promote client independence
- Administer medications and monitor health needs in accordance with care plans
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Respond to behavioral support needs using approved techniques and protocols
Requirements:- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnights
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
