Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional provides hands-on, day-to-day support to individuals in home- and community-based settings. DSPs assist with daily living activities, promote independence, ensure safety, and implement individualized service or treatment plans using a trauma-informed and person-centered approach.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with daily living skills, including hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks
  • Assist with community integration, including outings, appointments, and social activities
  • Provide transportation using company vehicles (must have valid driver’s license)
  • Implement behavior support plans and use de-escalation techniques when needed
  • Support youth with education, structure, and life skills development
  • Document services, progress, and incidents accurately and timely
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and structured environment
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, case managers, and team members

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Ability to pass background checks (required for DCS/DDA services)
  • Experience working with youth, individuals with disabilities, or in human services preferred (but not required)
