Position Summary

The HAB Crew Trainer – SCV is responsible for supervising, training, transporting, and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities who perform work assignments at community business sites. The position ensures consumers complete assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and according to customer specifications while promoting skill development, independence, vocational success, and achievement of Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP) goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train, supervise, and support consumers with developmental disabilities at community-based work sites.
  • Assign, monitor, and assist with daily work tasks to ensure completion in accordance with customer expectations, safety standards, and work schedules.
  • Provide instruction on the safe and proper use of tools, equipment, supplies, and vehicles.
  • Observe, evaluate, and document consumer performance, progress, behaviors, and training needs.
  • Support implementation of Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP) goals to promote vocational growth, independence, and community integration.
  • Ensure consumer safety, accountability, and supervision at all times, including transportation to and from work sites.
  • Conduct quality checks of completed work and address performance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and emergency drill records in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, case managers, customers, and team members regarding consumer progress and worksite operations.
  • Serve as a positive role model and maintain compliance with agency policies, ethical standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory or training experience.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with a good DMV driving record and ability to safely transport consumers to and from work sites.
  • Ability to provide clear, simple instruction and effectively support individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and supervise individual and group work activities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation, complete reports, and write clear, legible notes.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships.
  • Physical ability to lift, operate, and safely use related equipment and tools.

Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Two years of experience performing similar vocational training, crew supervision, or community-based support duties.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Monday–Friday (On-Site)
    • Shifts scheduled between 7:15 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. (30-minute unpaid off-duty meal period, and two paid 10-minute off-duty breaks)
    • Average shift length is 6.5 hours per day; may extend up to 8 hours based on assigned duties
    • Daily schedules and hours may vary depending on program and operational needs
    • Assigned work hours will be provided by the supervisor
  • Hourly Rate: $19.50 per hour
