Are you passionate about social justice and ready to make a difference in the lives of the men who live with challenging multiple diagnoses? As a Direct Support Professional, you will teach life skills and assist individuals to succeed as members of their communities! The ideal candidate will be adaptable and compassionate in all situations. 
  
Supports To Empower People (STEP) provides comprehensive, community and residential services to adult men who have intellectual/developmental disabilities (ID/DD) as well as significant behavioral and mental health concerns. The principles of Dialectical Behavioral Treatment (DBT) are adapted for the individual and integrated into all aspects of supports. STEP provides empowering assistance in therapeutically receptive environments which allows participants to embark upon the clinical challenges encountered and to safely explore and pursue their dreams.

Schedule: Looking for Full-Time, Part-Time, and Relief staff. 1st and 2nd shifts available and all staff must work weekends. Full-Time staff work a minimum of 2 weekend shifts and Part-Time staff work a minimum of 1 weekend shift. 
 

Compensation 

The pay range for this position is $19.00 to $25.00 per hour. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications.  This range may be modified in the future.  

  
Due to the nature of our work and the youth who are depending on us, there are times where overtime may be mandated. 
  
What You’ll Do: 
 
  • Coach, advocate, mentor, and teach in a caring, adaptable, and respectful manner.
  • Work as a member of a strong committed team, within the men’s homes.
  • Provide empowering support, enable fuller lives to explore & pursue personal dreams in a safe and healthy manner.
  • Implement all Individual Support Plans, Behavior Plans, and Nursing Care plans as well as document progress and concerns toward these goals.
  • Support the individuals enjoy their interests: employment, volunteering, sports, recreation, as well as households, family and friends.

Requirements: 
 
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License with access to an insured, registered and inspected vehicle.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • All schedules include weekend hours and meeting on Thursdays.
  • Must have a positive and supportive approach, critical thinking skills and ability to think “outside the box”.
  • Must have the willingness and desire to provide services above and beyond “the norm”.
  • Must be adaptable and compassionate to what the men we support need in any given moment.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.
