Position Overview


We are seeking a dependable and patient Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work with a 6-year-old boy diagnosed with Autism. This individual is non-verbal and requires consistent, attentive care and support with daily routines.


This is a hands-on role that requires strong observation skills, emotional control, and a calm, structured approach.


Responsibilities


  • Provide full assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including:
  • Toileting
  • Hygiene
  • Dressing
  • Meal preparation and feeding support
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment
  • Use non-verbal communication strategies and follow care plans
  • Support engagement through age-appropriate activities and routines
  • Monitor behavior and respond appropriately using trained techniques
  • Accurately document care and services provided
  • Communicate effectively with the care team and family
What We’re Looking For


We are not just looking for availability—we are looking for reliability and consistency.


You must be:


  • Patient, calm, and emotionally steady
  • Comfortable working with non-verbal children
  • Able to follow structure and routines without constant supervision
  • Dependable (call-offs and last-minute cancellations will not be tolerated)
  • Physically able to assist with child care needs
Preferred Experience


  • Experience with Autism or developmental disabilities
  • Background in childcare, healthcare, or behavioral support
  • Familiarity with non-verbal communication methods (PECS, gestures, etc.)
Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass BCI/FBI background checks
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Completion of required Ohio DODD training (can be completed after hire)
