Benefits: PTO, Holiday Pay, Sick Leave, 401k, Medical Insurance, and more.

Overview

Our client is seeking a Digital RF Test Engineer to lead the characterization, validation, integration, and performance testing of RF communication hardware and digital signal-processing systems used in advanced wireless and satellite communication platforms.

This role focuses heavily on RF test engineering, modem and signal-chain validation, digital communications testing, hardware verification, and automated test development. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong experience using RF laboratory equipment, developing test methodologies, troubleshooting complex hardware issues, and analyzing RF system performance from the device level through complete communication links.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute RF characterization, design verification, and system validation plans for communication hardware and subsystems.
  • Perform RF and digital communication measurements to evaluate transmit and receive performance, link quality, signal integrity, and overall system functionality.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test environments using industry-standard RF instrumentation and laboratory equipment.
  • Validate RF transceiver architectures including modem interfaces, ADC/DAC signal chains, DSP processing blocks, frequency conversion stages, and antenna interfaces.
  • Support hardware bring-up, integration, and debug activities for prototype and production systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of RF performance issues, hardware failures, and system integration challenges.
  • Develop Python-based automation tools for instrument control, test execution, data collection, data analysis, visualization, and reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with RF, modem, DSP, hardware, FPGA, firmware, and software engineering teams during development and verification activities.
  • Improve test coverage, repeatability, and scalability through automation and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in RF test engineering, design verification, hardware validation, or RF characterization.
  • Strong hands-on experience working in RF laboratory environments using industry-standard test equipment.
  • Solid understanding of RF communications, wireless systems, signal processing fundamentals, and hardware validation methodologies.
  • Experience developing device characterization plans, verification strategies, validation procedures, and test automation frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Python for instrument control, automation, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting RF hardware, communication systems, and complex signal-chain issues.
  • Strong understanding of transmitter and receiver performance metrics, including gain, noise figure, EVM, ACPR, phase noise, sensitivity, dynamic range, and linearity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with wireless communication systems, modem development, or satellite communication platforms.
  • Familiarity with DSP concepts, digital communications theory, and RF signal processing.
  • Experience validating transceiver, modem, FPGA, or SDR-based systems.
  • Background in production test, manufacturing validation, or high-volume hardware test environments.
  • Experience with phased-array antennas, beamforming systems, or Digital Beamforming (DBF) technologies.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, LabVIEW, GNU Radio, or similar signal-processing and test-development tools.
