About the role:
As a Digital Monitoring and Protection Systems Senior Engineer you will address heat removal from the reactor fuel and coolant flow in the reactor core under normal operation and accident conditions.
You will report to the Manager, Thermal Hydraulic Design, and work a hybrid role based in Cranberry, PA.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in introductory training focused on standard analyses and obtain qualifications in Digital Monitoring and Protection Systems
Perform standard and non-standard COLSS and CPCS analysis work for US and international customers. This work follows and understands approved methodologies, regulatory guidelines, procedures, and internal processes. Throughout, maintain focus on nuclear safety to produce error-free work. Analyses will support safe plant operation by determining design bases and limits that meet safety and regulatory criteria for plant, reactor core, and fuel design. You will also measure thermal margins and evaluate risks to plant safety and fuel performance.
Provide plant startup support, resolve and support technical leadership for complex, emergent and industry issues, redesigns, model development and interface with our customers and other departments within Westinghouse to support safe plant operation
Resolve and support technical leadership for special projects such as major programs, advanced plant designs, plant chemistry programs, development of new fuel products, including new cladding and fuel materials.
Support expertise and consultation to technical panels, reviews, committees, regulators, customers, and partners on multiple COLSS/CPCS related topics
Support general code, procedure and method development updates
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in engineering (e.g. Nuclear, Mechanical) or related Discipline
4+ years engineering experience
Statistical related experience helpful
COLSS/CPCS related experience with familiarity in subchannel codes and Combustion Engineering (CE) Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) helpful
Comfortable leading meetings and developing and delivering presentations
Computer simulation, programming skills and Linux experience helpful
Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) Certification helpful
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $86,500 to $106,500 per year.
