The Digital Communications Strategist is a hands-on storyteller who thrives on range. One day you might be planning and launching a social media campaign; another day you're drafting a press release, editing a short video, or capturing photos at a community event. You help connect residents and businesses to City services, programs, and decisions by choosing the right tools for the moment whether that's a post, an email, a blog, a flyer, or a short-form video.

Representative Duties
Social Media Strategy & Engagement
Develop, coordinate, and administer City social media accounts.
Create content calendars, draft posts, respond to comments, and monitor trends.
Track analytics and engagement to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Maintain awareness of digital usage trends to keep content relevant and engaging.
Digital Content Creation & Storytelling
Work across departments to gather program and project information.
Write, edit, proofread, and produce content for newsletters, websites, social media, and printed materials.
Draft press releases, talking points, and Citywide publications.
Capture photos and short-form video for events, publications, and digital channels.
Web & Multimedia Strategy
Support ongoing improvements to the City's online platforms.
Evaluate web content using strategic frameworks and usability principles.
Monitor user feedback and track analytics for web and social media.
Manage digital advertising campaigns across departments.
Communications Leadership & Support
Advise City leadership on creative strategies for social media, video, and printed materials.
Provide operational support to interdepartmental communication teams.
Support emergency communications during EOC activations or other urgent situations.
Oversee social media archiving and retrieval for public disclosure requests.
Professionalism & Values Alignment
Exercise discretion and judgment when handling sensitive information.
Communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and adaptability in a fast-moving environment.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Marketing, Public Relations, Visual Communications, or a related field.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in communications, public/media relations, marketing, or related fields.

Licenses and Other Requirements
Satisfactory three-year driving abstract
Ability to support emergency communications during EOC activations
FEMA Basic PIO certification - nice to have, not required; training available post-hire
