Description

Our client, a global provider of food, facilities and uniform services, is looking for a Registered Dietitian for their Chesapeake, VA location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall nutrition care to residents.
  • Ensure that the nutritional needs of the residents are met, and that all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Plans and administers activities related to resident nutrition care, complying with the standards established by regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Establishes and maintains effective multidisciplinary relationships to provide a unified approach to resident care.
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, reassessments, and follow-up evaluations using the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) and evidence-based practice guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and modify individualized nutrition care plans based on each patient's medical condition, nutritional status, laboratory values, medications, and clinical course.
  • Provide medical nutrition therapy for a diverse inpatient population, including medical, surgical, critical care, cardiac, oncology, neurology, orthopedic, renal, gastrointestinal, and other specialty patient populations.
  • Assess, recommend, and monitor enteral and parenteral nutrition support, including evaluation of nutrient requirements, formula selection, tolerance, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Identify patients at risk for malnutrition and perform comprehensive malnutrition assessments in accordance with current clinical practice guidelines.
  • Provide individualized nutrition education and counseling to patients, family members, and caregivers using techniques appropriate to health literacy and readiness to learn.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, speech-language pathologists, case management, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and patient care conferences as appropriate.
  • Interpret pertinent laboratory values, diagnostic studies, medications, and clinical findings to guide nutrition interventions and recommendations.
  • Accurately document nutrition assessments, diagnoses, interventions, monitoring, and outcomes in the electronic medical record in accordance with regulatory and departmental standards.
  • Prioritize patient workload based on clinical acuity while maintaining productivity and documentation expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and professional practice guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and interdisciplinary projects as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members while demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and cultural competence.
 
Requirements:
  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Acute care hospital experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with critical care, enteral nutrition, and parenteral nutrition strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while thriving as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Comfortable managing a variety of inpatient medical and surgical populations.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records high preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Is flexible, dependable, and committed to delivering high-quality patient care
