Support Exceptional Patient Nutrition Care
Valley Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Dietitian Assistant to support our Clinical Nutrition team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered nutritional care. Working under the direction of a Registered Dietitian, you will help identify patients at nutritional risk, maintain accurate nutrition records, modify patient menus, and support individualized nutrition care plans that promote healing and wellness.

What You'll Do
- Screen patients for nutritional risk and document findings in the electronic medical record.
- Update and maintain clinical nutrition records, including physician diet orders, allergies, food preferences, and nutrition risk levels.
- Modify patient menus to ensure compliance with prescribed therapeutic diets.
- Perform calorie counts and monitor patients' nutritional intake.
- Visit patients to obtain food preferences and address nutrition-related concerns.
- Accurately document nutrition services using hospital computer systems.
- Calculate formula nutrient content as needed.
- Collaborate with Registered Dietitians, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team to support quality patient care.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, infection prevention practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
- Assist with maintaining department policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in food service or a related healthcare field.
- Knowledge of diet therapy, nutrition screening, therapeutic diets, and modified diets.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Basic computer proficiency and accurate data entry skills.
- Ability to calculate formula nutrients accurately.
- Commitment to providing outstanding customer service and compassionate patient care.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Enrollment in nutrition coursework preferred.
Licensure & Certifications
- Los Angeles City Fire Card required within 30 days of hire.
