Position Summary:The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals for patients, staff, and visitors in accordance with prescribed diets, portion control standards, and sanitation guidelines. This position ensures food is prepared safely, attractively, and on schedule, supporting the overall patient care experience.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and cook meals following established menus, recipes, and diet ordersEnsure safe food handling, storage, and sanitation practices in compliance with state and federal regulationsPortion and serve food attractively and accurately for patients and staffMaintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and equipmentMonitor and record food temperatures and equipment readingsAssist with inventory, ordering, and stocking of food and suppliesCollaborate with the Dietary Manager and team to maintain efficient kitchen operationsFollow all hospital safety and infection control policiesQualifications:High School diploma or equivalent requiredPrevious cooking experience preferred, ideally in healthcare, school, or institutional settingKnowledge of basic nutrition, modified diets, and safe food handlingCurrent Food Handler's Permit (or ability to obtain upon hire)Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skillsDependable, organized, and service-orientedMust be able to pass a background check and complete a pre-employment drug test with a negative result.
