We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Dietary Cook to join our skilled nursing facility team. The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing, and safe meals for residents while following prescribed diets, menus, recipes, and applicable food-safety standards.
The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, works well as part of a team, and understands the importance of providing quality meals that support the health, comfort, and dignity of our residents.
Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to established menus and recipes.
Follow regular, therapeutic, texture-modified, and other prescribed diets as directed.
Prepare food in appropriate quantities while minimizing waste.
Follow proper food-handling, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
Monitor food temperatures and maintain required temperature logs.
Properly store, label, date, and rotate food and supplies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food-preparation area.
Assist with meal service, tray preparation, and portion control as needed.
Accommodate resident food preferences and special dietary requirements as directed.
Communicate with dietary staff regarding menu concerns, shortages, or resident needs.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and report equipment problems promptly.
Follow facility policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Director or Food Service Manager.
Previous cooking or food-service experience preferred.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to read and follow recipes, menus, and dietary instructions.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with residents and coworkers.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods and lifting or moving food-service supplies as required.
Must successfully complete any required background checks, health screenings, and facility training.
