    AMOREM is seeking a Cook to join our Dietary Services team. You do not need hospice experience to make a difference in this role. If you have experience preparing food in a restaurant, school, hospital, senior living community or other food service setting, we would like to hear from you.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Prepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals
    • Follow planned menus while accommodating patient preferences and special dietary needs
    • Deliver patient meals at scheduled times
    • Maintain safe food temperatures and follow food safety and sanitation standards
    • Keep the kitchen, nourishment areas and equipment clean and organized
    • Complete required food service and safety logs
    • Receive and inspect food and supply deliveries
    • Help maintain appropriate food and supply inventory
    • Assist with catering and organizational events as needed
    • Transport meals to other AMOREM locations when assigned
    • Work collaboratively with the Dietary Coordinator and patient care unit staff
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Enjoys preparing food and serving others
    • Dependable, organized and attentive to detail
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Committed to cleanliness, food safety and quality
    • Able to follow menus, recipes and dietary instructions
    • Comfortable learning basic computer and recordkeeping tasks
    • Respectful and compassionate when interacting with patients, families and coworkers
    • Understanding of therapeutic diets is helpful but not required

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.


    Experience: Previous cooking or food service experience is preferred. Experience may be from a restaurant, school, healthcare facility, senior living community, catering operation or similar setting.


    Licensure/Certification: ServSafe certification is required within six months of hire.


    Physical Demands

    • Frequent walking and standing
    • Ability to bend, reach and perform routine kitchen tasks
    • Ability to lift or move up to 30 pounds
    • Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary for food preparation, equipment use and record keeping
