MMT Diesel Technician

Location: Vicksburg, MS, USA

Magnolia Marine Transport has an opening at our Vicksburg office for a Diesel Technician to support equipment maintenance/repairs on boats and barges within the Magnolia Marine Transport (MMT) fleet. We are a relationship driven company with competitive pay and benefits.

Position Qualifications:

  • Extensive travel and overnight stays required
  • Must hold a valid driver's license
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid TWIC card
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to take and carry out orders while in training
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other employees
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Must be mechanically inclined preferably with some mechanical background
  • General electrical knowledge is a plus

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Keeping shop and shop equipment clean, maintained, and making sure all safety requirements are met
  • In-frame rebuild of small engines
  • Support change-out of heads, injectors, turbos, aftercoolers, oil cooler thermostats and cylinder kits for Caterpillar and EMD engines
  • Set timing and valves on RH/LH engines
  • Rebuild various stripping and cooling pumps
  • Support plumbing of various systems on vessels
  • Support PTO overhauls
  • Support barge heater maintenance and repair
  • Change out of accessory parts such as water pumps, belts, injection pumps, and starters on small engines
  • General maintenance including changing oil, oil filters, and fuel filters on various equipment
