The Diesel Engine Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems in a safe, efficient, and customer-focused manner. This role requires mechanical and technical expertise, a strong understanding of diesel systems (both mechanical and ECM-based), and the ability to communicate effectively with clients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to safety, professionalism, continuous learning, and promoting the company’s values and services while on-site.

Job Responsibilities
- Diagnose issues in diesel engines and associated control systems accurately.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and customers to explain findings and recommendations.
- Perform all tasks following strict safety protocols and company procedures.
- Complete time sheets, paperwork, and submit clear photos of completed work on the same day.
- Maintain clean and safe work environments—leaving job sites in better condition than found.
- Represent and promote the business to generate additional service opportunities.
- Use proper PPE and adhere to all safety requirements during service tasks.
- Participate in training and professional development sessions to continuously grow technical knowledge.
- Explain complex technical issues to customers in a clear, professional manner.
- Keep all relevant certifications current and compliant.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience working with diesel engines, including both mechanical and ECM-controlled systems.
- Strong working knowledge of diesel engine components and their operations.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Experience in generator troubleshooting and preventative maintenance services (PMs).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to complete documentation accurately and on time.
- Must be able to work independently while managing time effectively.
- High attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety standards.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency.
- Clean Driving Record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced understanding of electrical systems within diesel engine platforms.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing field service role operating as a technician.
- Sales-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to upsell PMs and additional service work.
- Track record of maintaining high customer service scores and productivity metrics.
- Familiarity with revenue tracking, call-back minimization, and productivity optimization.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and mechanical aptitude.
