Diesel Technician/Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Conduct test-drives and use diagnostic tools to assess vehicle systems and components.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain automotive systems including engines, transmissions, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, and air conditioning.
- Communicate effectively with the Service Advisor to keep customers informed about any additional repairs needed and provide accurate time estimates for completion.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of diesel mechanic experience required
- In-depth knowledge of Class 8 trucks
- Must provide your own tools
- Willing to undergo a drug screening and background check
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
Key Skills:
- Attention to Detail: A diesel mechanic must be thorough—small issues can lead to bigger problems. Your sharp eye for detail will ensure all parts and systems are thoroughly inspected and repaired.
- Customer Service: Strong communication skills are essential. You’ll need to interact with customers, explaining vehicle issues and offering repair solutions. Building rapport with repeat customers is key!
- Dexterity: You’ll be working with your hands, using both simple and complex tools to repair and maintain truck components, so manual dexterity is essential.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
License/Certification: Driver's License (Required)
