A growing transportation and fleet operation in Cumberland, MD is actively seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to join their maintenance team. This position is ideal for a technician who takes pride in quality workmanship, values safety, and enjoys troubleshooting and repairing heavy-duty diesel equipment in a fast-paced shop environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of diesel trucks and trailers to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, suspensions, transmissions, and other truck and trailer components
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service inspections
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic software and tools
- Complete DOT inspections and ensure equipment remains compliant with safety regulations
- Accurately document repairs, parts usage, and maintenance records
- Inspect equipment to identify potential failures or safety concerns
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team and communicate repair updates effectively
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician
- Strong understanding of diesel engine systems and heavy-duty truck repair
- Experience using diagnostic software and troubleshooting electrical systems
- Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record

- $27.00 - $33.00/hour based on experience and skill level

Schedule
- Monday - Friday
- Afternoon Shift | 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM
- Overtime available and paid after 40 hours
