    EDMONDS SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 15 September 2026 TITLE: DHH Coordinator Page 1 Employee Group: Professional Technical Reports to: Director of Special Education Status: Non-Continuing for the remainder of 2026-27 SY Supervises: Interpreters FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Level: Level-H JOB SUMMARY: The coordinator oversees, leads, and manages assigned groups and employees within the Student Services Department. This position is responsible for the coordinating, developing, and the directing of activities in the interpreting team to assure the efficient coverage, scheduling, and performance of the Interpreting staff. Supervision and evaluation of interpreter staff are included in this position. The coordinator oversees assigned areas of responsibility within the department inclusive of budgeting, workload assignment, program review and analysis. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Supports the student services director and leadership team in performing professional and technical tasks including the supervision and evaluation of classified employees.
    2. Oversees the supervision of all interpreter staff and department support. Determines training needs of interpreting staff. Develops, implements, and evaluates interpreter training and development programs.
    3. Assists in hiring, supervises, and evaluates assigned interpreting staff. Resolves and corrects performance problems; develops corrective measures and provides on-going performance review and feedback. Participates with Human Resources in investigating employee misconduct and determining appropriate disciplinary response.
    4. Train and orient staff within the department. Plans and implements departmental meetings and training for staff.
    5. Establishes work requirements and performance standards. Conducts annual performance evaluations and initiates and implements plans for improvement as directed. Provides direction and motivation to subordinates in order to make full use of individual capabilities and meet departmental needs. Provides on-going performance review and feedback, addresses training needs and performance deficiencies.
    6. Create and manage interpreter schedules and assignments, coordinating coverage for classes, extracurriculars, athletics, performances, meetings, field trips, and unexpected events.
    7. Communicate regularly and proactively with interpreters, staff, administration, district contacts, and students as necessary.
    8. Serves as the primary point of contact for interpreting related support, monitoring continuity, anticipating upcoming interpreting needs, managing substitute and contractor communication, maintaining organizational systems and documentation.     9. Reviews outside agency contracts, schedules, communications and scheduling. Works with the Business Office to ensure contracts are created, executed and monitored. Works with Student Services and Human Resources to support ADA needs are met.
    10. Collaborates with Office Coordinator to review timesheets, invoices and schedules for time approval,

    12. Serves in the full capacity of an Educational Interpreter as needed. Uses sign language and voice interpretation to facilitate communication between Deaf and hard of hearing students and others, including peers, teachers and other staff within the educational environment.
    13. Performs other related duties, as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Linguistics, Deaf Education, Education, Special Education, or a related field. Three to five (3-5) years of direct supervisory experience in a team lead, senior, or project coordinator role. Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) performance standards for Educational Interpreters: o Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a minimum score of 4.0, and the EIPA written test with a passing score; or o Or, National Interpreter Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), and the EIPA written test with a passing score. Licenses/Special Requirements: None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision. Knowledge of facilities planning principles, best practices, and procedures. Skilled in utilizing windows-based software and various application programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite Applications. Ability to develop policies, procedures and standards and monitor implementation. Ability to develop and implement short and long-range plans to meet department/program needs. Ability to plan, organize and oversee assigned work programs, including monitoring work schedules and evaluating the work of subordinates. Ability to plan, develop, and implement training programs for interpreting staff; ability to provide effective instruction. Ability to provide leadership and direction in the planning and implementation of programs. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, other employees, and the general public. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of experience working in a public-school setting, supporting educational interpreting. 5+ years of freelance or consulting support experience. WORKING CONDITIONS Office/classroom setting. Works in a fast-paced and stressful environment, involving the management of staff. Regularly experiences interruptions and inflexible deadlines. Works in all weather conditions. May be required to work additional hours and remain on-call to respond to emergency events. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, keypads, phones, and other office technology. Occasionally lifts or moves office supplies, laptops, boxes, or files weighing up to 10-15 lbs.
