DFM and Quote Technician

Milwaukee Electronics is looking for a detail-oriented DFM & Quote Technician to support manufacturing planning and quoting for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).

You’ll review customer designs, identify potential manufacturing issues, and coordinate the tooling needed for production. Working closely with Engineering and Customer Support, you’ll conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and recommend solutions that support accurate quotes, efficient production, and fewer defects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews of customer-provided drawings and data files to assess compatibility with manufacturing capabilities and identify process requirements that affect cost.
• Order stencils, surface-mount technology (SMT) carriers, and other tooling as requested, and maintain an accurate tooling log.
• Develop recommendations for PCB panelization and tooling to support efficient production and reduce defects.
• Clearly and concisely communicate findings and recommendations to the Customer Support team.
• Coordinate with Engineering to address manufacturing and tooling concerns for upcoming jobs.
• Review historical job records and provide defect reports to support improvements on repeat builds.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including loading bills of materials (BOMs), ordering tooling, and 3D printing tooling as requested.
• Develop training materials and provide instructions to colleagues, both locally and globally.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings as a subject matter expert (SME) on DFM and defect reduction, with an emphasis on tooling.
• Follow applicable quality policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Promote Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Demonstrate dependability, teamwork, and adaptability as priorities and processes change.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Maintain reliable on-site attendance, which is an essential function of this position.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS

• An Associate of Science (AS) degree or two years of experience with PCBA troubleshooting/repair or SMT equipment programming. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
• Experience using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read technical drawings, interpret technical instructions and diagrams, and work with customer-provided data is an essential skill in this role.
• Strong verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate clearly and follow technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy.
• Problem-solving skills, including the ability to define issues, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and the ability to interpret performance graphs.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a positive, respectful attitude.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, respond to urgent needs, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to learn and retain information about new services and processes.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
