    DevSecOps/OpenShift (Kubernetes) Engineer

    Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week)

    Duration: 1 Year (possible extension)

    Role Overview

    We are seeking an experienced DevSecOps / Azure DevOps / OpenShift (Kubernetes) Engineer to join a large-scale IT program. This role functions as a lead engineer, responsible for providing technical leadership, consulting, and mentoring team members to drive DevSecOps maturity across the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, Azure DevOps, and related DevSecOps toolchains.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) - designing and implementing ADO Wiki, Work Item structures, Pipelines, Git repos/branches/Pull Requests, and establishing related standards and processes.

    • Hands-on expertise in CI/CD automation across environments including RedHat OpenShift (OCP), Linux, Windows, SQL Server, and Oracle.

    • Skilled in creating ADO Build and Deploy Pipelines for modern and legacy Java and .Net applications, integrating with Apache Tomcat, JBoss, SQL Server, Windows, Linux, and Oracle.

    • Strong documentation skills for process and automation workflows.

    • Deep knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift v4 with proven ability to troubleshoot applications in OCP environments.

    • Experience creating Build, Deployment, and CRD config files for applications on OpenShift.

    • Hands-on experience with Docker and S2I images, StatefulSets, and converting Docker images to S2I and vice versa.

    • Proficiency in Kubernetes/OpenShift orchestration, including Custom Helm charts and maintaining Docker image repositories such as Quay.

    • Solid expertise in Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) v8.x and above, including administration, performance tuning, and capacity management.

    • Strong knowledge of Logstash pipeline configuration, grok patterns, and Elastic Beats (Filebeat, Heartbeat).

    • Experience with SonarQube, Coverity, and Black Duck - integrating into ADO Pipelines and Pull Request flows.

    • Scripting expertise in Linux shell (.ksh, bash) and Python.

    • Skilled in debugging Java errors and working with SSL, TCP/IP networking, LDAP.

    • Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills - effective in both diverse teams and independent environments.

    • Highly organized self-starter with strong planning, documentation, and time-management abilities.

    Required Experience and Skills

    • 8+ years of experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift.

    • 8+ years of expertise in Linux shell scripting.

    • 5+ years as an expert in application containerization management.

    • Strong background in DevSecOps practices, infrastructure automation, and scripting/programming.

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience with:

    • OpenShift

    • Azure DevOps

    • ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)

    • Docker

    • SonarQube

    • Black Duck

    • Linux (bash, shell)

    • S2I (Source-to-Image)

    • Python

    • NGINX

    • WebSphere

    • LDAP

    Interview Process

    • Virtual interview via MS Teams.

    • Candidate photo verification and vendor presence required at interview start.

    Work Arrangement

    • Hybrid role - local candidates within 2 hours of Lansing, MI only.

    • Onsite requirement: 2 days per week.

    • No remote-only option.
