DevOps Engineer

  • $120–$140 Per Hour

Highlights

The DevOps Engineer provides the automation and tooling layer that makes customer delivery operations scalable, auditable, and professionally run - directly supporting SLA commitments, deployment quality, and time-to-value for enterprise clients. Without dedicated DevOps engineering, deployment activities are manual, inconsistent, and slow - creating delivery risk, increasing the chance of environment-related incidents, and preventing the Customer Ops team from scaling without linear headcount growth.

Duration: FTE

Role Summary:

  • The DevOps Engineer designs, builds, and maintains the CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling, and infrastructure automation that power customer delivery operations. Working within the Customer Ops team, this role is the engineering engine behind deployment velocity - ensuring that customer environments are provisioned, upgraded, and maintained reliably, securely, and at pace.

  • This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure operations. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for making deployment a repeatable, automated, and quality-assured activity - eliminating manual overhead, enforcing DevSecOps standards, and giving the wider Customer Ops and Systems Engineering teams the tooling they need to operate efficiently at scale.

Why This Role Exists:

  • Enterprise customer base grows, so does the complexity of managing deployments across cloud-hosted, customer-hosted, and hybrid environments. Without dedicated DevOps engineering, deployment activities are manual, inconsistent, and slow - creating delivery risk, increasing the chance of environment-related incidents, and preventing the Customer Ops team from scaling without linear headcount growth.

  • The DevOps Engineer provides the automation and tooling layer that makes customer delivery operations scalable, auditable, and professionally run - directly supporting SLA commitments, deployment quality, and time-to-value for enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for customer environment deployments, upgrades, and patch cycles - covering cloud-hosted and customer-hosted model

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (Terraform, Helm, Ansible

  • Implement and enforce DevSecOps practices across all product and client deployment pipelines - including security scanning, secrets management, and policy-as-code controls

  • Develop and maintain deployment tooling, scripts, and environment templates that reduce manual effort and improve deployment consistency

  • Support Systems Engineers during new customer environment builds, patch cycles, and major upgrades - providing tooling, automation, and hands-on assistance

  • Build and maintain ops process tooling: SLA tracking dashboards, deployment status portals, environment health monitors, and internal reporting utilities

  • Maintain deployment metrics and reporting - pipeline success rate, deployment frequency, lead time, and change failure rate - to inform continuous improvement

  • Identify and remediate deployment bottlenecks, pipeline failures, and infrastructure configuration drift across customer environments

  • Collaborate with the SRE team to align infrastructure design with operational monitoring and incident response requirement

  • Participate in change management processes - ensuring all production environment changes are logged, reviewed, and reversible

  • Contribute to the Automation Engineering team''s agentic workflow initiatives - developing automation that further reduces operational toil

  • Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for all pipelines, playbooks, and environment configurations

Key Deliverables:

  • CI/CD pipeline designs and live implementations for all customer deployment models - cloud, on-prem, and hybrid

  • Infrastructure-as-Code templates and reusable deployment playbooks - maintained, versioned, and documented

  • DevSecOps controls documentation and compliance evidence for all customer-facing pipelines

  • Automated environment provisioning and teardown scripts - reducing manual setup time per new customer deploymen

  • Deployment metrics dashboard: pipeline success rate, deployment frequency, lead time, and change failure rate - reported monthly

  • Ops tooling: SLA trackers, status portals, and environment health dashboards operational and actively used by Customer Ops team

  • Target: pipeline success rate 95%; zero unplanned production outages attributable to deployment tooling failures

Key Skills & Qualification:

  • CI/CD platforms: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps - pipeline design, implementation, and maintenance at enterprise scale

  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Helm, Ansible - provisioning, configuration management, and drift detection

  • Container platforms: Docker and Kubernetes - build, deployment, and runtime management in production environment

  • DevSecOps: security scanning (SAST/DAST), secrets management (HashiCorp Vault or equivalent), policy-as-code (OPA, Sentinel

  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP - provisioning, networking, IAM, and cost-aware infrastructure management

  • Scripting and automation: Python, Bash, PowerShell - automating deployment workflows and operational tasks

  • Monitoring integration: ability to instrument pipelines with observability hooks compatible with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or equivalent

  • Change management: familiarity with ITSM processes and structured change control in enterprise environments

  • Collaboration skills: able to work effectively with Systems Engineers, SRE, and customer-facing teams in a fast-moving environment

  • Documentation: clear, maintainable runbooks and pipeline documentation - written for both technical peers and operational teams
