DevOps Engineer 3 – Java / Azure

Work Arrangement: Onsite, Full-Time
Contract Duration: 12 Months + possible extension
Pay Range:$66.00-$70.00/hour

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer 3 to support the development, deployment, and operation of large-scale cloud-based applications. This position combines strong Java development and debugging expertise with hands-on Microsoft Azure PaaS, cloud architecture, application deployment, and production support experience.
The engineer will work closely with development, support, and technical teams to monitor cloud environments, manage application releases, troubleshoot complex issues, and continuously improve application architecture and deployment strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor Microsoft Azure cloud environments and troubleshoot critical application and infrastructure issues.
- Manage multiple development code branches and coordinate application deployments.
- Deploy and support applications across QA, Staging, and Production environments.
- Provision and manage Azure resources, services, and virtual machines.
- Support application releases across multiple Azure regions.
- Investigate and debug complex issues alongside development teams.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Java-based applications.
- Support large-scale applications running on Azure PaaS.
- Participate in application architecture, integration, implementation, testing, and deployment activities.
- Manage code merging, branching, and release processes using Git/GitHub.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve architecture, cloud environments, and release processes.
- Support complex production issues and help restore systems efficiently.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Java development experience, with expert-level coding and debugging skills.
- 5+ years of experience supporting and deploying large-scale applications on Azure PaaS.
- 2+ years of Azure architecture experience.
- Strong knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and object-oriented development.
- Experience with cloud application deployments, production support, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of software development, system integration, testing, and release processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership when addressing complex issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Security, and Spring JPA.
- Experience with Hibernate, SQL, XML, HTML5, CSS3, Apache Tomcat, and OAuth.
- Experience with JUnit and test-driven development (TDD).
- Knowledge of Gradle build and dependency management.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with Swagger.
- Experience with Git/GitHub branching strategies.
- Experience with Vue.js.
- Agile/Scrum development experience.
- Previous Azure application implementation and release experience.
- Microsoft Azure certification is a plus.
- Experience with ServiceNow is preferred.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
