Device Test & Automation Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA. Hybrid, 3-4 days onsite per week
Key Responsibilities
Perform functional, system, integration, and regression testing of broadband gateways and connected devices.
Validate device functionality across different firmware and software releases.
Test key gateway features including device provisioning, connectivity, configuration, diagnostics, and device management.
Perform end-to-end testing involving gateways, network components, applications, and backend services.
Troubleshoot device and connectivity issues by analyzing logs, device behavior, and test results.
Work with development and firmware teams to identify, reproduce, and troubleshoot defects.
Perform testing in hardware and lab environments, including device setup, configuration, firmware upgrades, and recovery scenarios.
Hands-on experience with test automation.
Experience with PyTest, Selenium, or similar automation frameworks.
Validate device communication through interfaces such as REST APIs, serial/UART, and other device-level interfaces.
Develop and execute test cases based on product requirements and technical specifications.
Maintain test documentation, test results, and defect reports using tools such as JIRA and test management systems.
Participate in defect triage and provide detailed technical information to development teams.
Support regression testing across new firmware and product releases.
Use scripting and test automation where appropriate to improve test coverage and reduce repetitive manual testing.
Work in an Agile environment with cross-functional engineering and QA teams.
Required Skills
45+ years of experience in software/QA testing, preferably involving connected devices or networking equipment.
Hands-on experience testing broadband gateways, routers, modems, set-top boxes, or similar embedded/connected devices.
Strong understanding of device testing and troubleshooting methodologies.
Experience with firmware/software validation and regression testing.
Good understanding of IP networking and connectivity concepts.
Experience analyzing device/application logs and troubleshooting issues.
Experience with REST APIs and basic scripting.
Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA.
