We're looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Development Officer to join our Education and Inclusion Service. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering the SEND Strategic Plan, supporting future SEND reforms and helping shape inclusive education across North Yorkshire.

 

About the service

The Education and Inclusion Team works collaboratively with schools, colleges, early years settings, families and partner organisations to ensure that children and young people receive the support they need to achieve their potential.

The team promotes inclusive education, helps remove barriers to learning, and provides guidance and services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring they can access high-quality education and positive outcomes within their local communities

About the Role

This role sits at the heart of our SEND improvement work. You'll work closely with colleagues, schools, families and partner organisations to support projects that make a real difference to children and young people.

You'll be involved in a wide range of activities, including:

  • Supporting the delivery of SEND strategic priorities and upcoming reforms.
  • Coordinating and monitoring action plans and improvement projects.
  • Working with schools, locality boards and partner organisations to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Undertaking research, data analysis and project evaluation.
  • Supporting consultation, engagement and co-production activities with stakeholders.
  • Preparing reports, briefings and presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Helping identify challenges, risks and solutions to support successful delivery.
  • Supporting the development of inclusive education provision across North Yorkshire.

No two days will be the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of projects that influence services and outcomes for children and families.

 

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a good understanding of SEND, inclusion and educational practice.
  • Enjoys building strong relationships and working collaboratively with others.
  • Has experience of supporting projects, service development or improvement initiatives.
  • Can analyse information and use evidence to inform decisions.
  • Is highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is confident working with a wide range of stakeholders, including schools, families and senior leaders.
  • Brings a positive, solution-focused approach to challenges.

You may already have experience in education, SEND, project management, policy development, service improvement or stakeholder engagement. If you're passionate about making a difference and can demonstrate transferable skills, we'd love to hear from you.

Note - The post is based at County Hall, Northallerton, with regular travel across North Yorkshire as required.
