Development Coordinator
The Development Coordinator is responsible for working with the Chief Development Officer in fundraising efforts and activities in accordance with the mission of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare and the priorities established by the Chesapeake Hospital Authority. Focus will be on fundraising, special events, and marketing opportunities.
The Employee Giving/Grateful Patient/Direct Mail/Event Marketing role will be responsible for expanding the outreach and revenue for the Employee Giving Campaign, Grateful Patient opportunities, direct mail, vendor golf tournament, marketing for special events, as well as other events as established by the strategic plan.
The Special Events role will be responsible for expanding the outreach and revenue for the annual Bra-ha-ha, Gala, and 5K, as well as other events as established by the strategic plan.
General Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis by both roles/positions, with responsibilities specific to each role also outlined individually. Other tasks and/or duties may be assigned.
- Act as a good steward of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare and the Foundation's mission and values.
- Maintain key donor relationships effectively.
- Serve as backup to manage and maintain specialized donor database software and assure integrity of data and records, deleting duplicate records, utilizing appropriate coding of gifts and appeals, and appropriately handling confidential information.
- Compose correspondence and thank-you letters associated with assigned donors and programs.
- Interface with Foundation Board members, volunteers, donors, and hospital employees in support of fundraising and development efforts.
- Complete projects in a timely and well-organized manner.
- Represent CRH to donors, prospects, and the public by attending CRH fundraising events and any other assigned activity related to CRH in the community.
- Understand and use the principles, equipment, practices, and procedures required to identify and secure funding sources and expense ratios to meet program goals.
- Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services.
- Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure all goals are met for event execution.
- Model and foster behavior that establishes a culture that values volunteer relationships and CRH executive management and is consistent with the values, goals, and objectives of the Foundation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Specific to Employee Giving/Grateful Patient/Direct Mail/Event Marketing Role
- Staff liaison for the CRH committees of the Foundation affiliated with direct responsibilities, coordinating aspects of fundraising and special events activities as defined.
- Expand the Employee Giving Campaign for year-round activation.
- Enhance and innovate a Grateful Patient Campaign to include mother/baby, oncology, nurse appreciation, doctor appreciation, and other opportunities to enhance patient giving.
- Oversee all marketing and communications opportunities for the programs and events of the Foundation, including a social media campaign, event collateral, flyers, posters, revenue collection materials, website materials, and weekly enhancements to communicate and enhance Foundation campaigns.
- Plan, organize, recruit, and train volunteers for fundraising projects.
- Be responsible for campaign goals as well as the overall goal of the Foundation.
- Assist in developing donor recognition standards for the Foundation.
- Provide support as needed for fundraising activities, including but not limited to the annual Gala, Bra-ha-ha, and 5K.
- Be responsible for the development of content for the Foundation newsletter, gathering information from other staff and departments as needed.
- Working with the Chief Development Officer, coordinate and lead the direct mail fundraising campaign.
- Attend all Foundation events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Specific to Special Events Role
- Staff liaison for the special events committees of the Foundation, coordinating all aspects of fundraising and special events activities.
- Plan, organize, recruit, and train volunteers for fundraising projects.
- Be responsible for campaign goals as well as the overall goal of the Foundation.
- Lead special event development, including corporate sponsors, vendors, individual donors, and additional revenue opportunities.
- Assist in developing donor recognition standards for assigned Foundation activities and coordinate proper sponsorship and individual donor recognition throughout events and Foundation collateral.
- Provide support as needed for fundraising activities, including annual campaigns, employee giving campaigns, special events, major gifts, and planned giving.
- Assist with the development of content for the Foundation newsletter.
- Contribute to the development of annual department goals and long-range plans.
- Attend all internal and external events.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or other related field, or applicable experience.

Experience: 3+ years of direct event and fundraising experience.
