Job Description
The Developer plays a key role in designing, building, and supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) applications used in factory and manufacturing environments. Working closely with stakeholders and within an agile, cross-functional team, this role translates business needs into robust technical solutions, supports existing MES applications, and contributes to ongoing process and technology improvements. The position is based in the St. Louis, MO area, with a primarily onsite work model Monday through Thursday and remote work on Fridays, and offers flexibility for partial onsite work, particularly during the initial training period.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate as a core development team member to design, develop, and deliver application components for new MES implementations and enhancements to existing MES applications.
- Apply a comprehensive understanding of modern software development and implementation methodologies to build scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Provide technical support for assigned MES applications to factories and internal business partners, including troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving application issues.
- Investigate and remediate problems in MES and related legacy applications, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
- Maintain and improve user reference materials by writing, revising, or managing the creation of documentation for MES applications.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of MES applications by evaluating and incorporating new technologies and development practices.
- Promote continuous process improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance systems, workflows, and support processes.
- Collaborate closely with factory personnel and other internal stakeholders to understand operational needs and ensure solutions align with business requirements.
- Participate actively in agile/scrum ceremonies and team activities, contributing to backlog refinement, estimation, and delivery planning.
- Support application testing, deployments, database-related tasks, and technical documentation as part of end-to-end solution delivery.
- Assist in project management activities related to MES initiatives, including coordination of enhancements and resolution of support calls from factories and business partners.
- Continuously expand technical expertise by learning new technologies, tools, and development disciplines relevant to MES and manufacturing systems.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Approximately 7 years of experience in a similar software development role is required.
- Demonstrated experience working on highly collaborative, large cross-functional projects.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Strong experience troubleshooting and resolving issues in legacy applications.
- Comprehensive understanding of modern software development principles and methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Understanding of factory floor processes and manufacturing operations.
- Experience working in an agile/scrum environment, preferably using SAFe practices.

Work Environment
The role is based in the St. Louis, MO area, with a work model that typically involves onsite work Monday through Thursday and remote work on Fridays. The team offers flexibility, and the Developer may be onsite approximately two days per week on average, with a higher onsite presence expected during the initial training period. The work environment centers on supporting factory and manufacturing operations, including close collaboration with factory floor personnel and internal business partners. The technical environment includes modern software development tools and technologies such as Java, C, C#, C++, .NET Framework, JavaScript, Angular (v5+), HTML/CSS, JSP, Tomcat, IIS, SQL Server, DB2, ORM frameworks like Hibernate and Entity Framework, Azure DevOps, and Microsoft Power Apps. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $61.00 - $61.00/hr.
