SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Developer II - API Web Services for a hybrid opportunity for candidates in Columbia, SC. Candidate will support the design, development, testing, and integration of complex enterprise applications within a multi-platform environment spanning mainframe, midrange, and distributed systems. This role will focus on building and maintaining API-driven solutions, ensuring system reliability, and supporting end-to-end software delivery in a fast-paced enterprise setting.

Required Qualifications of the Developer II - API Web Services:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in application development, systems testing, or related technical disciplines
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, QA practices, and enterprise integration methodologies
  • Experience working with API-based architectures and enterprise system integration concepts
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to design, develop, test, debug, and maintain complex applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Preferred Skills/Experience of the Developer II - API Web Services:

  • Experience developing APIs and web services using Java, JavaScript, or Node.js
  • Hands-on experience with REST and SOAP services
  • Familiarity with OAuth and mTLS authentication protocols
  • Experience with API management platforms (e.g., API gateways and integration platforms such as IBM DataPower, IBM API Connect, Kong, or AWS API Gateway)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Artifactory)
  • Exposure to container platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift
  • Experience with application servers such as WebSphere
  • Familiarity with messaging and integration tools (e.g., IBM MQ, transformation tools)
  • Experience with API testing tools such as ReadyAPI and OpenAPI/Swagger standards
  • Experience with monitoring and analytics tools such as Splunk and databases such as MongoDB

Responsibilities of the Developer II - API Web Services:

·         Perform full lifecycle application development including analysis, design, coding, testing, and deployment

  • Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and system designs
  • Develop and maintain enterprise applications and API-based integrations
  • Analyze system interdependencies and assess impacts of changes across platforms
  • Support production issue resolution and implement system enhancements as needed
  • Create technical documentation including design specifications, integration workflows, and test results

Work Location: Hybrid role based in Columbia, South Carolina. Candidates are required to work onsite Tuesday through Thursday and as needed.
