Title: Python Full Stack Developer
Location: McLean, VA (Full-Time Onsite, Monday-Friday)

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience using a modern programming language (Python, Java, or C#).
  • Experience with Git version control, SQL, Pandas, and unit testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Shell scripting
  • Financial services domain experience with fixed income knowledge
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, STEM, or related quantitative discipline
  • CFA, FRM, or CPA certifications

Senior Software Developer (Financial Accounting Applications) - Contract
Position Overview
Freddie Mac's Investments & Capital Markets division is seeking a Senior Software Developer to support its enterprise forecasting platform used for long-term financial projections, strategic planning, and decision-making. This role focuses on enhancing forecasting engines, improving model accuracy and scalability, supporting critical financial reporting cycles, and partnering with FP&A and business stakeholders to deliver new forecasting capabilities and meet evolving regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Refactor and modernize financial accounting and forecasting application components to improve maintainability, performance, and scalability.
  • Develop and enhance forecasting engine capabilities to improve model accuracy, efficiency, and enterprise readiness.
  • Support quarterly and annual production runs for financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery.
  • Troubleshoot defects, reduce technical debt, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop high-quality, testable code with strong automated unit and integration test coverage.
  • Collaborate across data, services, APIs, and infrastructure layers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Partner with FP&A and business stakeholders to implement forecasting enhancements and scenario analysis capabilities.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, platform migrations, and technology modernization efforts.
  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, documentation, and technical decision-making.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of software development experience using Python, Java, or similar modern programming languages.
  • 2-3 years of Git source control experience in a collaborative development environment.
  • 2-3 years of SQL and relational database development experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting for automation and operational support.
  • 2-3 years of experience with unit testing frameworks such as Pytest or JUnit.
  • Understanding of fixed income concepts including duration, convexity, spread, and option-adjusted spread (OAS).
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, including revenue recognition, expense recognition, and amortization.
  • CFA, FRM, CPA, or significant progress toward certification.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders and gathering requirements.
  • Exposure to project management and tracking tools such as JIRA.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
