Detailer – Automotive Dealership
Looking for a rewarding career in automotive? Greenway Ford, CDJR, and GMC in Morris, IL is searching for a motivated and detail-oriented Detailer to join our team. The Detailer supports our sales and service departments by ensuring all vehicles are showroom-ready, front-line ready, and delivery-ready for our valued customers.
Compensation: Starting $17.00 – $19.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
Type: Full-time
Hours:
- Monday–Saturday: 40+ hours (1 day off per week, mandatory Saturday)
- Sunday: CLOSED
Job Responsibilities
- Wash, detail, and polish new and used vehicles for display, customer delivery, and service loaners.
- Perform quality checks on all detailed vehicles to ensure they meet dealership standards.
- Thoroughly clean under the hood of each vehicle — remove debris, apply degreaser, wash, and finish with a spotless dry for a professional presentation.
- Vacuum, shampoo, and clean vehicle interiors including carpets, upholstery, and dashboards.
- Apply waxes, sealants, and protectants to maintain vehicle finishes.
- Clean and dress tires, wheels, and exterior trim.
- Assist the body shop with minor cosmetic repairs (with in-house training provided)
- Maintain cleanliness of detail bays, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist with lot organization, including staging vehicles for delivery or display.
- Transport vehicles as needed between lots or to offsite locations.
- Support seasonal tasks (e.g., snow/debris removal, salting walkways in winter).
- Complete safety training as assigned and follow all dealership safety standards.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, bend, stoop, and work on feet for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior detailing or automotive cleaning experience a plus.
- Valid driver’s license (must be insurable).
- Ability to drive standard (manual) transmission vehicles preferred.
