Job Title: Desktop Technician IV
Job Location: Mineral Point, WI
Job Duration: 6+ months on W2.
Shift: Standard shift hours (100% Onsite)
Job Summary:
The position is responsible for providing on-site technical support, maintaining and monitoring computer systems, servers, network infrastructure, and related equipment. The role supports desktop imaging, printer support, network activities, server operations, client maintenance, and general site IT health across the Mineral Point, Stoughton, and Janesville sites. The position works closely with plant staff, vendors, and the site lead to ensure IT equipment and systems are maintained in accordance with documented processes and IT best practices.
Technical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help set up and monitor data closet equipment, including servers and UPS.
- Monitor and report on general site health status, including data closet equipment, servers, network, and clients.
- Assist with running cables and provide guidance to the local team on cable runs and termination.
- Escort vendors within the site so they can perform maintenance tasks on data closet systems.
- Assist the site lead with server operations as needed.
- Set up new servers and clients according to documented processes.
- Perform standard maintenance tasks on clients and servers, including patches, agent installation, and incident troubleshooting.
- Maintain and document all network IDF changes and port mappings.
- Collaborate with plant staff to foster open communication and ensure all devices on site are used in accordance with IT best practices.
- Provide desktop support, imaging, network support, and printer support.
- Research, design, develop, and test computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use.
- Support the manufacturing and installation of computer or computer-related equipment and components.
- Instruct and assign staff to provide technical support to designers, marketing and sales departments, suppliers, engineers, and other team members throughout the product development and implementation process.
- Assign testing and verification of hardware and support peripherals to staff to ensure they meet specifications and requirements.
- Oversee the build, testing, and modification of product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
- Assign staff to analyze user needs and recommend appropriate hardware.
- Direct technicians, engineering designers, or other technical support personnel as needed.
- Confer with engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate the interface between hardware and software and the operational and performance requirements of the overall system.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of experience.
- Desktop support and imaging experience.
- Network knowledge.
- Printer support experience.
- Customer service skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills.

- Customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of computer software and hardware.
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.
- Knowledge of computer software, including configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software, and internet directory services software.
Technical Skills:
- Windows XP through Windows 11.
- Windows Server 2008 through 2019.
- Familiarity with antivirus systems.
- Active Directory.
- Basic Windows security settings.
- Basic understanding of network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, switching, and common network devices.
- MS Office.
- Telnet/Putty clients.
- Remote Desktop.

- Imaging software for computer backup and recovery.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal direction from a supervisor.
- Strong mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
- Position is 100% on-site.
- Primary location is Mineral Point, WI, with additional support for the Stoughton and Janesville sites.
