    Description

    This is an onsite role; only local candidates will be considered.

    The Desktop Support Technician will support the Office of the Attorney General of Texas (OAG) on the Computer and Docking Station Refresh Project. This role performs the daily hands-on work of the refresh, including imaging computers, replacing equipment, and migrating user data. The technician will follow an established process provided by the agency to complete each deployment consistently. The position works as part of a team that includes an agency subject matter expert and a project manager who coordinate and lead the work. This role also provides technical assistance, troubleshooting, and customer support for hardware and application issues.

    Responsibilities

    • Image, replace, and deploy computers and docking stations in accordance with agency-provided procedures.
    • Migrate user data from existing computers to replacement equipment.
    • Install, maintain, move, and assist in testing and upgrading new and existing hardware and software.
    • Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
    • Provide technical assistance and support for application and hardware problems.
    • Prepare or assist in preparing service record documentation.
    • Maintain the necessary security controls over software.
    • Monitor and assist users with the use and interface of systems, subsystems, and software applications.
    • Access and transfer data to and from local, state, or federal databases as needed.
    • Collaborate with the agency subject matter expert and project manager to meet project priorities and deadlines.

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 1 year of experience handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
    • 1 year of experience with personal computers, components, printers, and microcomputer terminology.
    • 1 year of experience working cooperatively with others in a professional work environment.
    • 1 year of experience maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals.
    • 1 year of experience documenting, maintaining, upgrading, or replacing hardware and software systems.
    • 1 year of experience preparing or assisting in the preparation of service record documentation.
    • 1 year of experience providing technical assistance and support for applications and hardware problems.
    • 1 year of experience installing, maintaining, moving, and assisting in testing and upgrading new and existing hardware and software.
    • 1 year of experience maintaining security controls over software.
    • 1 year of experience providing excellent customer service.
    • 1 year of experience using WordPerfect and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • 1 year of experience with Windows operating systems.
    • 1 year of experience communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • 1 year of experience monitoring and providing assistance on the use and interface of systems, subsystems, and software applications.
    • 1 year of experience accessing data from and transferring data to local, state, or federal databases.
    • 1 year of experience applying the practices, principles, and techniques of computer operations, information systems, computer software and hardware, and information security policies and procedures.
    • 1 year of experience using and supporting personal computers and applicable programs and systems.
    • 1 year of experience troubleshooting and operating information technology systems.
    • Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
    • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1 year of experience providing Windows 11 technical support.

    Additional Requirements

    • This is an onsite role; only local candidates will be considered.
    • Must be able to lift and relocate equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
    • May be required to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as requested.


    Work Location and Schedule

    Location: William P. Clements State Office Building, 300 W. 15th St., Austin, TX 78701.
    Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays.
    Work Arrangement: On Site.
