    Summary

    The Resident Advisor Desk Manager is a part-time (28 hours a week) paraprofessional staff member of the Office of Residence Life who lives in an assigned residence hall and supports desk operations within their assigned hall. The RADM position is categorized as 15 hours (Resident Advisor) and 13 hours (Desk Manager) for a combined 28 hours (Resident Advisor Desk Manager). To be hired as a Resident Advisor Desk Manager, the candidate must also be hired as a Resident Advisor.

    The Resident Advisor Desk Manager is a member of the Hall Leadership Team and is directly supervised by the Residence Hall Director and Graduate Hall Director. In addition to modified Resident Advisor responsibilities, the Resident Advisor Desk Manager is responsible for the supervision of Desk Clerks, desk scheduling, and administrative tasks that are related to hall operations.

    The Resident Advisor Desk Manager keeps their supervisor informed of activities, problems, and needs of the residents and the community. The RADM gets to know residents and the larger residential community to build an engaged, safe, and inclusive environment for academic success and personal growth. The RADM helps to establish and maintain open lines of communication between residents of the hall and the Office of Residence Life. This appointment is for one full academic year.

    Essential Functions

    In addition to the key duties and responsibilities outlined in the Resident Advisor position description, the RADM is also responsible for the following:

    • RADMs will complete all expectations as outlined in the RADM Engagement Model.
    • RADMs are expected to hold 15 scheduled office hours each week (13 hours as part of the RADM role and 2 hours as part of their RA responsibilities) Monday-Friday between 8:00am-5:00pm unless otherwise approved.
    • RADMs will not hold any other on or off-campus employment. RADMs can submit a request to hold an academic related internship to be approved by the Assistant Director.
    • Resident Advisor Desk Managers will participate in their own duty rotation (this replaces the expectations set forth for the RA duty rotation as outlined in the RA Contract). This duty rotation will answer calls from Desk Clerks and Resident Assistant regarding desk related issues only. Duty begins each night at 6:00PM and continues until 8:00AM the following morning, Sunday through Thursday. On weekends (Friday and Saturday), duty begins at 6:00pm and concludes at 6:00pm the following day (Friday 6pm-Saturday 6pm, Saturday 6pm-Sunday 6pm). RADMs are expected to remain on campus during these hours and be able to respond within 15 minutes. RADMs must keep the duty phone on them at all times during these on-call hours and should not attend sporting events or other programs where they may not be able to answer the phone.
    • RADMs are responsible for creating and managing the Desk Clerk schedule for their assigned area.
    • RADMs are responsible for notifying the Assistant Director for Recruitment and Selection of any resignations or terminations so that the Assistant Director can hire a replacement accordingly.
    • RADMs will assist with escalated roommate conflicts.
    • RADMs will be responsible for administrative processes at the desks including but not limited to lock outs, lock changes, key audits, and paperwork audits.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • The RADM must be a full-time (at least 12 credits), enrolled student.
    • The RADM must always maintain a cumulative and semester grade point average of 2.75 or above.
    • The RADM must not be currently on Residential or University disciplinary probation.
    • The RADM should have 1 year of previous Resident Advisor Experience or 2 years of Desk Clerk experience or 1 year of Student Desk Manager experience.
    • The RADM must also be hired as a Resident Advisor for the current academic year.
