About the Role

You will be a key member of the Pottery Barn Teen Furniture Design team, responsible for design, development, and delivery of new furniture collections. Our team is committed to creating beautiful, safe and innovative furniture. Working under the leadership of the Vice President and Head Design Manager, your primary responsibility will be to lead the design process from ideation to execution, ensuring that our products align with our brand vision, market trends, and customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop original furniture designs that reflect Pottery Barn Teen's design philosophy and aesthetic.

  • Demonstrate a clear design point of view, driving innovation and creativity each season.

  • Identify key design trends and analyze the market to bring new aesthetics and functions to the team.

  • Create new design concepts with ideation, mood boards, sketching, 3D modeling and complete specs.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product development, sourcing, and merchandising to ensure design feasibility and market viability.

  • Strong knowledge of furniture engineering, construction, materials and pricing.

  • Evaluate designs for optimal manufacturing and cost effectiveness.

  • Develop and manage presentations to present design content and samples to senior leadership.

  • Understands and adheres to the product development calendar, ensuring all assigned deadlines and key milestones are met.

Criteria

  • Minimum 5 years furniture design experience

  • Degree in Design or equivalent experience

  • Must have an aspirational taste-level with an eye for interiors and designer aesthetic

  • Experience designing product with pricing and construction in mind

  • Must be technically versed in bedroom and upholstery product categories and wood finishes

  • Strong attention to design details when reviewing technical drawings

  • Fully proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD, and 3D rendering programs (Rhino, SolidWorks, Keyshot, AutoCAD)

  • This role requires being onsite in the San Francisco offices

The expected starting pay range for this position is $72,000 - $84,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
