Compensation: $30-$40/hour (Based on Experience)
Overview: Sterling Engineering is partnering with a leading engineering consulting firm to hire multiple Electric Distribution Designers to support AEP replacement and rehabilitation programs. These positions will focus on electric distribution infrastructure projects, supporting the design, modification, and upgrade of overhead and underground utility systems. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team supporting critical utility improvements throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and modify electric distribution designs for AEP replacement and rehabilitation projects.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings and design packages utilizing MicroStation-DDS.
- Support overhead and underground electric distribution projects, including poles, conductors, transformers, and associated equipment.
- Perform field investigations and collect data to support project design efforts.
- Review existing utility infrastructure and develop design solutions in accordance with utility standards and client requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, field personnel, and utility clients throughout project execution.
- Prepare project documentation, design calculations, and construction support materials.
- Assist with project scheduling, design revisions, and quality control reviews.
- Ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and utility requirements.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of electric distribution design experience.
- Experience supporting utility distribution projects.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, utility standards, and construction documents.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team environment.
- Field experience or willingness to perform field work as required.
Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant utility design experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Software:
- MicroStation-DDS required.
