This position is responsible for designing and developing fire protection systems. Their responsibilities revolve around performing research and analysis, utilizing feedback from customers and other experts, producing prototypes or samples, and coordinating with engineers and technicians.
Furthermore, a designer may design upgrades and enhancements, create testing structures, take part in installing and repairing systems, and conduct regular maintenance checks to ensure the systems' quality and efficiency.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Create detailed fire alarm system and low voltage designs and construction drawings for commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, and residential projects.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, sales teams, and field personnel to develop code-compliant fire alarm system layouts, riser diagrams, device placement drawings, and submittal packages.
Follow all OSHA standards and laws, submit drawings for approval to the AHJ, and attend regular development meetings.
Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the CAD process.
Incorporate feedback into 3D model designs.
Make revisions to models as requested.
Keep up to date on all modern advancement in material and software technologies.
Pursue ongoing education in the field.
Utilize large databases of material property information to best select materials for modeling.
Re-create new (MEP) and structural drawings under existing conditions for design coordination.
Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
Provide accurate electrical schematics per client conditions and analyze and track technical specifications including dimensions, arrangements, and installation procedures.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualification:
Minimum 2 year degree in related field preferred.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
At least 2 years of experience utilizing CAD software.
Minimum 2 years working in a professional environment preferred.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
NICET II or above preferred.
An abundance of patience to see a complicated project to the end.
Ability to think in a three-dimensional manner.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.

Pay Range:
$30 - $45 hourly DOE
